Completing IELTS Task 2 in time

Completing IELTS Task 2 in timeCompleting IELTS Task 2 in time is essential if you are aiming for a good score. For that, you need to practise, but you also need to have a clear plan of how you are going to spend your time. In the years we have helped IELTS candidates prepare for their test, this is the format we have found to be the most effective.

Step 1: Reading the title carefully, underlining the task and topic words – 1 minute

Step 2: Brainstorm for ideas (think about the people that are involved in the question) and make notes – 2 minutes

Step 3: Organise those notes into three coherent paragraphs – 1 minute

Step 4: Writing your introduction – 5 minutes

Step 5: Write each paragraph, including an example – 8 minutes per paragraph (24 minutes)

Step 6: Writing a conclusion with a recommendation or speculation – 4 minutes

That’s now 37 minutes, giving you 3 minutes to proofread your work.

We hope it helps, but if you have any comments or suggestions then let us know in the comment section below.
