It was our first visit to Berlin and on day 1 we decided to explore the area close to our hotel.
Heading out of the hotel, we 1: (first/next) stopped for coffee at a lovely café. 2: (After that/In the end), we walked down to see the Molecule Man sculpture on the Spree River. It is situated in front of the Treptowers and stands 30m high, so it’s impossible to miss!
3: ( Next/At the same time), we decided to walk to the East-Side-Gallery as we heard it would take us about 20 minutes. We got lost unfortunately so it took us a little longer than that, but 4: (eventually/later) we got there! The East Side Gallery is an open-air gallery that is very famous in Berlin. It consists of a series of murals painted directly on a part of the Berlin Wall that still remains today. 5: ( While/During) we were there, we took lots of great photographs!
It was such a lovely hot day, so 6: (last but not least/as soon as) we decided to head back to the Spree River to the floating pool. This place is amazing! There’s a manmade beach, café bar and pool to swim in that is made from an old boat that used to transport coal along the river. The queue to get in was quite long and we had to wait for about an hour. We were so hungry so 7: (while/as soon as) we got in we ordered burgers for lunch then spent the rest of the afternoon swimming and sunbathing. 8: (Following this/During) the time we were there we met some great people too. Our first day in Berlin was wonderful! Looking forward to tomorrow!
