  1. Some people believe that all those who commit any form of crime should be sent to prison because that is the purpose of a prison. This is so because such people believe that minor crimes will be on the increase if light punishment such as community service is given as penalty for such crimes, and if minor crimes increases, then it could lead to bigger crime and this will make the community to become unsafe for all.

However, if such crimes are punishable by imprisonment then a lot of people will desist from minor crimes, which in turn will lead reduced rate of any form of crime(whether minor or major) and this will lead to a safe, friendly and habitable community. The safety of every individual in any given society is not just the responsibility of the government, but also that of the citizens, that is why such people will rather imprisonment as the punishment for all crimes against community service. Statistics have shown that hardened criminals had done various less crimes in time past before becoming hardened,

In summary, safety is the first quest for man. Hence, no form of crime should be seen as less serious, as this way of thinking or opinion might make the community vulnerable to all sorts of crimes both known and known which might in turn affect the larger world. while it may start out as less serious, the criminal may get used to that form of punishment and proceed to carry out more serious crimes in the future.

  2. There are people who truly believe that all people who commit a crime should be sent to prison, while others think that less serious crimes should be spent doing community services. I agree with the latter that not all crimes deserve prison sentences and that some are better spent doing community services.
In many countries today crimes are punishable by spending time in prison with lesser terms for lesser crimes and longer terms with hard labour for more heinous crimes. They believe that spending time in prison will deter these individuals from committing more crimes when released. They also believe that keeping them locked up will prevent them from committing more crimes. In the United States today a child is remanded in a detention facility for not doing her homework and that was viewed as a punishable crime for the judge who made the decision. I do not agree with this belief because the long term effects on the people who may have made a mistake or could easily be reformed are made to suffer the same way as a hardened criminal.
Some crimes are less severe and therefore many people are of the view that one should not have severe punishments as those received by people who commits serious crimes and in agree with this point of view. Community services are more suitable and can be beneficial to the government when these people are made to contribute to the society by means of enhancing public properties. While in prison these people are trained properly by hardened criminals and are more skilled and resourceful upon release and better able to carry out more skillful crimes without getting caught. With less prison reform for these people, their is not much benefit from imprisoning these individuals. Also in the United States of America, pop singer Chris Brown was given community services for a minor offence and has since tried to stay out of trouble. No one method of punishment is perfect but it is more beneficial to have less people in prison living off tax payers and use their skills to make a difference.
Sending someone to prison for minor offence such as stealing food to eat can create someone who is less likely to be conformed or rehabilitated later. Giving them time to complete community services and or paying fines is a better way to help the country and people who may not even consider crime a way of life and just made a mistake. Sending every offender to prison will not solve the problems faced by any society.

  3. As outlined by the graph provided, the preferred mode of transportation for 2018 and 2012 which accounted for over 65% and 55% respectively. During the same periods, riding a bike to work was the least likely means of transportation followed by walking to work.

Other means of transportation, public transportation and private vehicle passenger had almost the same amount of people using those methods to get to work with at or close to 10%.
In 2018 there were more people who worked at home than in 2012. There was also more people driving a car or truck to work in 2018 than there were in 2012. The same comparison can also be seen for persons who chose to ride to work. For the other modes of transportation listed 2012 had more people using those methods than in 2018.
The diagram shows that more people prefer to drive to work than to walk or ride a bicycle to work.
