Modals & the third conditional

The third conditional type

‘If’ section of clause

‘Effect’ section showing…

… certain effect

…highly probable effect

…a possible effect

Example:

If I had written a better essay,

… I would have had a better band score.

… I would probably have had a better band score.

… I might have had a better band score.

Grammar:

Would have + past participle

would probably have / would most likely have + past participle

Might have / could have / may have + past participle
