Student Accommodation at Brampton University
Our university is proud to offer what we believe to be the best accommodation options for students in our county. Found below is a summary of the main details of our housing options to help you make your choice. Please contact our Accommodation Officer with any questions or queries you may have.
A Brampton House
Situated on the university grounds, this is the most convenient (and hence one of the most popular) accommodation option for students without their own transport. Brampton is a 12 storey building with 20 private student rooms on each floor. Each floor has access to two communal kitchens (self-catering) and 4 bathroom areas. There is a common recreation area on the ground floor and card operated telephones are available on each level. For internet connections, students must use the facilities in the library. No parking facility for residents is available in the housing area, though normal regulations apply for permits elsewhere on the college campus. Rents must be paid two weeks prior to the start of each semester covering the complete semester.
B. Bradley House
A second university-operated residence with a similar set up to Brampton. This is a newer addition to our accommodation options (build only two years ago). Bradley is situated 1.5 kilometres from the university campus. In addition to facilities available at Brampton, Bradley residents have access to communal lounge areas on each floor with broadband internet connection. 20 car parking spaces are available to residents on a first come first served basis. Parking permits cost £40 per semester. For rent arrangements see arrangement for Brampton House.
Parkhouse differs from our first two options as it offers 3, 4 and 5 bedroomed shared houses on an estate private to the university. Parkhouse is situated 5 kilometers away from our campus and is on a convenient bus route with regular services available until 11pm week nights (later at weekends). All houses offer private rooms (two bathrooms in 4 and 5 bedroomed accommodation). Parkhouse places are the most sought after and waiting lists are often full. Stays at Parkhouse are restricted to 1 academic year, rents payable one term in advance.
D. Private Rentals
A list of private rentals and details of landlords is available at our Accommodation Office. You are able to check the information database for comments and impressions of previous tenants. Rental arrangements are made privately with each landlord and terms of rental differ accordingly (usually monthly). Usually a deposit of equivalent to at least one month’s rent is required. All rentals included in the university database system have met safety standards relating to electricity, gas supply and other criteria, these checks are carried out on an annual basis.
