Question 1 of 6
1. Question
Complete the long turn below by selecting the correct word or phrase to fill the gaps.
Describe a child you know
You should say
• Who the child is
• How old they are
• What they enjoy doing
You should also say what the child is likeWell, Q1________________ you about a child I know called Stan. He’s my best friend’s son, and Q2________________ him since he was born. I’ve been friends with his mother for over 15 years, so I actually first saw him when he was only about 8 hours old. He’s now 10 years old, so Q3________________ secondary school in the not-too-distant future. He…er… has a sister now, but until he was about 4 or 5 he was an only child. I think he likes having a sister – she follows him around everywhere and most of the time he seems quite happy to look after her.
He spends most of his time playing football – he’s addicted to it! He collects all the shirts of his favourite team and has posters of the team all over his bedroom walls. I can’t remember which team he supports, although he reminds me every time I see him! He plays for his school team most weekends – I think he’s a goalkeeper. Q4________________ him play until quite recently – he’s very good. There are a group of boys about his age that live in his street, and they Q5________________ football together in the park across the road whenever they can. For his age, he’s quite tall, and he’s also quite slim – I suppose that’s because of the sport he plays.
He’s a handsome boy and has lovely blonde hair and really blue eyes. I don’t normally like kids, but Stan is quite funny – he always seems to be keeping his friends amused. I think he’s quite smart – his school Q6 ________________ tests and he was one of the top three students in most of his classes – except in maths. I don’t think he likes that very much. He’s a lot like his mum in many ways – she’s kind, friendly and quite clever. They also look alike – she’s got blonde hair and blue eyes too.
