Here are some questions with full, extended responses:

Examiner:

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

Candidate:

Hmm, yes I do. I really enjoy fishing, I go quite a lot in the summer. I like it because it can be very peaceful just sitting by a river, so I come back feeling quite refreshed and relaxed. I’m not actually very good at it, but I don’t really mind if I catch anything or not. I don’t often go in the winter – it’s not so enjoyable in the cold.

Examiner:

What’s your favourite television programme?

Candidate:

Actually, I don’t watch a lot of television, but I guess my favourite would probably be Crime Scene – I’m really interested in police dramas and this is very well acted so I watch it whenever I can. It doesn’t really worry me if I don’t get to see it, though. I tend to watch more DVDs than television to be honest. Adverts really annoy me!

Examiner:

Tell me about a typical day

Candidate:

Well, I get up at about 6 in the morning because I have to be at work by 8. I don’t have a car so I have to catch the train, which leaves just before 7. I usually work until about 4, but sometimes I have to do overtime. In the evenings, I normally meet friends for dinner or just relax in front of the TV.

Examiner:

Do you often use public transport?

Candidate:

No, not really – I have my own car and the public transport where I live is very limited, so it would be difficult to rely on the buses and trains. I should use it more often, though, because it’s better for the environment and running a car is becoming really expensive.
