Building paragraphs. To write a good paragraph for Task II, there are three important steps that you must include. The first part of your paragraph should be the topic sentence. A topic sentence tells the reader what you are going to talk about in the paragraph. In the example you saw in the previous exercise, the topic sentence was There are many clear reasons why the government should oversee healthcare. Following this, you should support and develop your topic. In the example paragraph, the writer adds these sentences. So the topic sentence introduces what the paragraph is about and the following sentences develop this. The final point to include is that you must provide examples or evidence for what you have stated in your paragraph. In the example, the writer refers to the situation in America.
