Video: Practice test feedback

Narration:

Now we will look at using these steps on the example questions you saw at the beginning of the lesson. First, read the sentence closely, and identify the keywords. In this example, the keywords would be visitors, UK, travel without and tour company. Then scan the passage to find the area you think contains the answer. Then go back to the question and read the list of possible options. Now read the text in detail and dismiss any unsuitable options. For example, option A is not mentioned as the reason for travelling without a tour company. For option B, the paragraph does talk about expense, but does not relate this to either independent or tour operated travel. For option D, the text states that ‘historical links’ make Britain a popular destination for backpackers, but this ‘has long been’ the situation and does not refer to why more and more people are travelling independently.
