Let’s look back at the phrases used for giving suggestions from the introductory exercise. They are all used to tell somebody that you think they should do something, but are less direct and therefore more polite. As always we can split them into usage for formal, semi-formal or informal situations, while some would be suitable for use in all registers. Here are the situations you can use them in. When structuring your sentences be aware that some phrases take the gerund (..ing), some the infinitive (to..) and some the base verb. Here is an example of each type. In the next exercise we will practice structuring suggestion and recommendation sentences correctly.
