The use of articles helps us to be more specific when talking about nouns.
Let’s take the noun ‘student’ as an example. If we talk about a student, then we are talking about one of many students. It is not important which particular student.
However, when we refer to the student, we are talking about a specific student. It is important which one.
When talking generally about more than one student, we do not use an article.
