Type Usage Form Example
Zero To talk about conditions which are always true and scientific facts

(Can also be used to give instructions)

if + present simple… + present simple If people take regular exercise, they improve their health.
First To predict likely events in the future (the speaker/writer believes that there is a big chance that the situation will occur) if + present simple… + will + base verb If we protect the environment now, future generations will benefit.
