PTE Part 3 Listening Item 6 Select the missing word is the sixth question type you need to complete in the PTE listening test.
What you have to do for this question type:
With this type of question, you are judged on your ability to predict what a speaker will say based on the context of the recording. You will hear an audio recording where some words are replaced by a beep sound. You need to select the correct word or words from a choice of 3 to 5 different answers.
Task length and timing:
An audio recording that is 20-70 seconds long will play automatically and you will only be able to listen once. You will hear 2 or 3 audio recordings in total. The next recording will not begin playing until you click ‘Next’ so after you have finished listening, you have a little time to think about your answer.
More information:
To select your answer, click on it using the left button on the mouse. The answer you select is highlighted yellow. If you want to change your answer, left-click on the option again to deselect it, or left-click on a different option.
The scoring for this question type:
This question type only affects your listening score. Your answer is scored as either correct or incorrect. No credit is given for no response or an incorrect response – that’s 1 point for a correct answer and 0 points for an incorrect answer.
