Useful tips for PTE Part 1 Item type 8 – Summarise a written text

Writing 200 to 300 words in only 20 minutes is very difficult, and not something you will be able to do without a lot of practice. However, there are some useful tips that can help.

  1. Make sure you have read the topic AND task words so you are very clear on what you are writing about.
  2. You will need to use a formal register in your grammar structure and vocabulary.
  3. You need to have a clear structure in your response, with an introduction, body paragraphs with clear topic sentences and a logical conclusion.
